Holiday lets in Alcocéber mainly work by the week or the fortnight in July and August: that's how most families from Zaragoza, Madrid, Pamplona, Logroño or Bilbao have spent their summers here for decades. Outside the summer it's easier to find shorter stays of just a few nights.
When to book
Demand for accommodation in Alcocéber soars in July and August, with a first peak at Easter. If you want a particular complex, a seafront apartment or a large apartment for eight, book several months ahead.
- July and August: high season. Full weeks or fortnights are the norm.
- June and September: good weather, pleasant sea temperatures and fewer people. A great time for couples and retired travellers.
- Easter: the first big getaway of the year; some shared pools, such as Marcomar's, are already open by then, while others only open in summer.
- Autumn and winter: Alcocéber gets more than 2,700 hours of sunshine a year, with winter averages of around 11 °C; it's a good destination for long, quiet stays.
What the rental usually includes
Each apartment has its own terms, so always check the listing before booking. These are the points worth looking at:
| What to check | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Bed linen and towels | Not always included in every rental |
| Parking | Some complexes have it free, others charge and some have none |
| Pool | Some only open in season (Marcomar's, for example, runs from Easter to mid-November) |
| Lift | Key with older people or pushchairs |
| Check-in and check-out times | Plan your drive so you arrive in time to collect the keys |
| Pets | Not accepted in Casa Azahar apartments |

Private owners or a local agency
Many people look for apartments to rent in Alcocéber directly from private owners. Renting straight from an owner can work well, but there are some differences to bear in mind:
- With a local agency you have an office in town where you collect the keys and can go if anything comes up during your stay, and you can compare several buildings and areas in one place.
- With a private owner you deal with them directly, but key handover, problems and terms depend on each owner.
Casa Azahar is an Alcocéber agency that manages apartments for many local owners; its key collection office is at Avenida Las Fuentes, 11.
Are you the owner? If you let your Alcocéber apartment by the week through friends or on your own, you know how much work it takes: keys, cleaning between guests, repairs and paperwork. Casa Azahar can take care of all of it; find out more in apartment management for owners.
Tips for a week or a fortnight
- Choose the area before the apartment. If you want to get around on foot, go for the Cargador and the centre; for peace and quiet, Las Fuentes; for nature, the Serra d'Irta area. It's all in the directory of complexes by area.
- Count the actual beds. An apartment "for 6" may include a sofa bed in the living room.
- Think about the car. In summer, parking near Cargador beach is harder; a complex with parking saves you driving round in circles.
- Plan your trips to the coves. To drive onto the Serra d'Irta coast in summer you need to book a parking space in the park's official app; check the dates each year on the Generalitat's Natural Parks website.
- Make the most of the market. Alcocéber's street market is held on Tuesday afternoons from May to October near the seafront promenade; Alcalà de Xivert's is on Friday mornings all year round.
A few days out of season
If you only want a few days, spring and autumn are ideal: quiet beaches, walks in the Serra d'Irta and a town that's lively all year round (Alcocéber has about 2,000 residents). Many apartments are let by the night at that time of year.
