The Madeira apartments in Alcossebre are in the northern part of Alcocéber, in the Las Fuentes area, where the village begins to give way to the coves and the lighthouse of the Sierra de Irta. It is a complex with a communal pool and free parking, with two-bedroom apartments and terraces from which you can see the sea and the mountain. Here you will find its location, what the complex is like and what the booking portals say about it.

Where Residencial Madeira is
Residencial Madeira is at calle Piber, 6, in the Las Fuentes estate, north of Alcossebre. Les Fonts (Las Fuentes) beach is about 6 minutes away, and in the same area are the marina and, further north, the lighthouse, Cala Blanca and the start of the Serra d'Irta Natural Park.

It is a quiet residential area, without the bustle of the centre. In return, the Cargador seafront promenade and the shopping streets are further away, so many guests combine walks with the car, which at Madeira is no problem because parking is free.
Advantages of the area:
- Silence and an estate atmosphere, between the beach and the Sierra de Irta.
- Quick access to the northern coves, the lighthouse and the natural park's hiking and cycling routes.
- Free parking in the complex itself.
Drawbacks:
- The centre and Cargador beach are at a distance that many prefer to cover by car.
- The building has no lift, a detail to bear in mind with pushchairs or older people.

What the Madeira complex is like
Madeira is a complex with a communal pool and garden. The apartments managed by Casa Azahar have 2 bedrooms, with capacity for 4 to 6 people, and many have a large terrace with sea views and mountain views. Its listing also highlights the free parking and the proximity of the coves and the lighthouse.
Services mentioned in the listings and reviews:
- large communal pool, with garden;
- free parking;
- terrace;
- air conditioning;
- wifi.

Not all the apartments in the building are managed by the same company. Besides Casa Azahar, other Alcossebre agencies offer Madeira units, such as Apartamentos 3000 or Albert Villas, and that is why the complex appears on some portals under names like "Madeira 3000" or "Madeira Playa". The equipment and condition may vary from one apartment to another depending on who manages it.

Public scores from each website, checked on octubre de 2026. They may have changed; see the source for the current score.
The weighted average is 8 out of 10, a good and fairly consistent score across portals, but the table should be read with some caveats:
- Booking.com (8.2/10, 49 reviews) is the main source. Its sub-scores are uniform: cleanliness 8.3, location 8.1, value for money 8.1, staff 8.2 and a somewhat lower score for wifi (7.5).
- Expedia (8.2/10, 49 reviews) is not an independent source: it shows the same Booking reviews replicated. In the table it appears as a separate portal, so those ratings count twice in the average.
- Google (3.8/5, 79 reviews) gathers reviews for the whole building, not just the Casa Azahar apartments.
- TripAdvisor (4.7/5) has only 3 reviews and they are from 2011 to 2013, so today they say little. On TripAdvisor there are also two other listings for the same building: "Madeira 3000", with 1.7 out of 5 and 3 reviews from 2018 to 2022 that complain about the previous manager's policy, and "Madeira Playa", with no reviews. We have not included them in the table because they correspond to other managements.
- Central de Reservas (8.5/10) has 7 reviews, with a good cleanliness score (9.0), and Atrápalo only one (7.0).
What guests like most. Peace and quiet is the first thing guests highlight: Madeira sits between the beach and the Sierra de Irta, away from the noise. Next come the pool, large and almost always not very crowded, the big terraces with sea and mountain views, bright and clean apartments and good value for money.
What is criticised. Complaints focus on the interior of some apartments: the living room sofa bed, old and uncomfortable; dated furniture and details; mattresses that could be better; showers with a curtain and bathrooms in need of updating. The lack of a lift is also mentioned, as well as basics such as soap or dish cloths being missing and an occasional wifi problem.
Those who stay here are mainly families, couples and groups, almost all Spanish.
Our assessment
Madeira is a good choice if your priority is to rest: a quiet area, a pool without crowds, terraces with views and the Sierra de Irta next door. Its weak points are inside, with apartments that need renovating sofas, mattresses and bathrooms.
Strengths
- Peace and quiet and natural surroundings, next to the natural park.
- Large communal pool with few people.
- Large terraces with sea views.
- Free parking.
- Consistent scores for cleanliness and value for money.
Weak points
- No lift.
- Dated sofa beds, mattresses and bathrooms in some units.
- The centre is too far to walk to every day.
Ideal for. Families with a car who want a pool and beach without the bustle, couples looking for calm and anyone planning to hike or cycle in the Sierra de Irta. If you are travelling with older people or people with reduced mobility, the lack of a lift may weigh, and if you want to go out every night on the seafront promenade, a building in the centre will suit you better. None of the Casa Azahar buildings accepts pets.

Tips before booking at Madeira
- Confirm who manages your apartment. As there are several agencies in the same building, the reviews of one listing do not always apply to another.
- Bring the basics. Some guests miss soap or dish cloths; better to be prepared.
- Think about the car. With free parking and the centre at some distance, it is the most convenient way to get around.
- If you go to the Sierra de Irta in summer, remember that to drive into the park's coast you need to book a place in advance in the GVA Parcs Naturals app.
Surroundings and things to do from Madeira
Beaches. Les Fonts beach measures about 400 by 40 metres, is fine sand and has a unique curiosity: freshwater springs from an ancient aquifer bubble up from the sand. It has lifeguards, showers, a children's area and equipment hire. Next to it is the Las Fuentes marina, home of the Alcossebre Sailing Club, from where excursions leave for the Columbretes Islands. To the south is Cargador beach, with a Blue Flag since 1987.
Sierra de Irta. From Madeira you are very close to Cala Blanca and the Alcossebre lighthouse, the starting point of route 2 (Faro d'Irta - Cala Cubanita - Font de la Parra, 12.8 km, easy) and of the red route "Un paisaje de contrastes", of 8.5 km. If you go by bike, the Ruta del Cranc follows the coastal track to Peñíscola: 13.2 km, easy, with a single climb, that of Torre Badum. The park's coves, such as Cala Mundina, have no lifeguards or services; with small children it is preferable to swim at the town beaches.
Other plans. About 9 km away is Alcalà de Xivert, with its 68-metre octagonal bell tower, and from the village you can climb to the hermitage of Santa Llúcia i Sant Benet or visit Xivert castle.
When to go to Madeira
The Las Fuentes area and the Sierra de Irta can be enjoyed all year round. Alcossebre has more than 2,700 hours of sunshine a year, with average highs of about 29-30 °C in summer and about 21 °C in spring, according to AEMET normals from the nearest station. For swimming, the water is around 25 °C in midsummer. If what attracts you to Madeira is walking around the coves and the lighthouse, spring and autumn are ideal: mild temperatures, fewer people on the routes and no need to book driving access to the park's coast, which is only required in summer.
How to get there
You get there via the AP-7, exit 44 (Alcossebre-Torreblanca), or via the N-340 and CV-142 to the coast; once in Alcossebre, follow signs to Las Fuentes and the marina. Approximate distances: Castellón, about 50 km; Valencia, about 120 km; Zaragoza, about 255 km; Madrid, about 465 km. Airports: Castellón (about 22 km), Valencia (about 123 km), Reus (about 145 km) and Barcelona (about 230 km). The nearest train station is Alcalà de Xivert, about 10 km away.
