Where is Residencial Sant Jaume?
Residencial Sant Jaume is in the centre of Alcossebre, in the Carregador area. Its Google Maps listing places it at Carrer d'Ausiàs March, 7. Guests highlight exactly that: the central location and that you can walk to the beach. On Booking, the location scores 9.0 out of 10.

The nearest beach is Carregador (El Cargador), the town's main beach: 850 metres of fine sand about 70 wide, with a dune system, a promenade, fully adapted access and a Blue Flag without interruption since 1987. From there, the wooden walkway of the Senda Litoral leads to Romana beach.
Advantages of staying in the centre:
- Everything on foot: beach, promenade, supermarkets, bars and restaurants.
- The Tuesday market (May to October) is set up in the promenade area.
Drawbacks guests mention:
- Parking: the street is a paid blue zone and sometimes you have to leave the car far away. If you come by car from Aragon, Madrid or the north, allow for this on arrival and departure.
- It is an urban setting, with no garden or communal pool.

What are the Sant Jaume apartments like?
Residencial Sant Jaume is a residential apartment building, with no pool or leisure areas. What is most appreciated inside is the space: guests describe spacious apartments with a large kitchen, which is unusual in town-centre buildings. The photos on the Casa Azahar listing show a living room, dining area, kitchen, terrace, a bedroom with a double bed, another with single beds, and bathrooms with a bath or shower.
What to know before booking, according to reviews:
- There is no air conditioning. In July and August this matters.
- There is no pool: the swimming plan is the beach.
- The wifi is rated very poorly (2.5 out of 10 on Booking). If you need to work remotely, bring an alternative.
- Kitchenware is incomplete: some guests miss large frying pans, an iron or a hairdryer.
- The ground-floor units are somewhat dark and some have a little damp.
Booking also mentions family rooms. Like all Casa Azahar buildings, it does not accept pets.

- The friendly staff at the agency (8.7).

- Spacious apartments with a large kitchen.
- The price outside high season: value for money scores 7.9, and several guests note that outside high season the price is worth it.
What is criticised most
- Sleep comfort: some guests mention uncomfortable mattresses, single beds and sofas.
- No air conditioning or pool.
- Upkeep: somewhat dark ground-floor units, some damp and ceilings that need painting. Facilities score 7.1.
- Incomplete kitchenware.
- Parking in a blue zone.
- Wifi, by far the lowest sub-score (2.5).
Our verdict
Sant Jaume is an apartment for experiencing the town on foot: you head down to Carregador beach in the morning, eat at home with a roomy kitchen, and go out for dinner or a stroll along the promenade without taking the car. It is not the option for anyone looking for a pool or air conditioning, and parking takes some patience.
Strengths
- Central Alcossebre, with the beach, shops and restaurants on foot.
- Spacious apartments with a large kitchen.
- Well-rated staff and good cleanliness.
- Attractive price outside July and August, according to guests.
Weaknesses
- No pool or air conditioning.
- Very weak wifi.
- Parking in a blue zone.
- Some damp and peeling paint in the ground-floor units.
Who it is ideal for
- Families who need space and want everything close at hand.
- Older travellers or couples visiting in spring or autumn who prefer the centre and strolls.
- Mid-season stays, when the heat is milder and the lack of air conditioning matters less.
If you are travelling in high summer with children, first consider a building with a pool such as those in the alternatives.
Town centre or seafront: which suits you?
In Alcossebre, choosing between a town-centre apartment like Sant Jaume and one on the seafront or in a complex with a pool depends mostly on how you plan to spend the day:
| If you are looking for… | Best fit… |
|---|---|
| Going out for dinner, strolling and shopping without a car | The centre (Sant Jaume and nearby buildings) |
| A pool for the children between swims | A residential complex with a pool, such as Bovalar or Al Andalus |
| Sea views from the terrace | A building on the front line at Carregador or Romana |
| Easy parking | A building with a garage or a complex with parking |
Sant Jaume wins on interior space and being close to everything; it loses on air conditioning and shared facilities. If your plan is beach in the morning, a siesta and a stroll at sunset, the centre works very well.
