The Serena Mar apartments in Alcossebre form a residential complex in the southern part of the town, just past Romana beach towards El Moro. The complex has two phases (Serena Mar and Serena Mar 2) and is laid out around lawns and a communal pool. It is not a hotel or a complex with a reception: the homes belong to different owners and some are rented seasonally through agencies.
This page is informational and independent: Casa Azahar does not manage apartments in Serena Mar or offer bookings there. At the end we suggest Casa Azahar alternatives in the same area.
Where is Residencial Serena Mar in Alcocéber?
Serena Mar is in the south of Alcossebre, in the area running from Romana beach to El Moro, Tres Platges and Manyetes. According to portal data, it is about 250 metres from Romana beach, and guests speak of around 5 minutes on foot to the sand.

- Romana beach: about 500 metres of fine sand and 40 wide, accessible, with a Blue Flag in 2026. A wooden walkway, the Senda Litoral, links it to Cargador beach.
- El Moro beach: about 300 metres of fine sand among rocks, with lifeguards, showers and toilets in season.
- Tres Platges and Manyetes, further south: a chain of coves of sand and pebbles, and a quiet beach with dunes.
Advantages of the area: it is residential and quiet, the southern beaches are less crowded than Cargador, and the promenade lets you walk to the town. Drawbacks: the centre, the marina and most shops are further away than from Las Fuentes or Cargador, so for the big shop or dinners in the centre many people use the car.

8.5/10 weighted average across booking sites · 78 reviews
| Website | Score | Reviews |

| Booking.com | 8.7/10 | 3 |
| Central de Reservas | 7.1/10 | 7 |
Public scores from each website, checked on octubre de 2026. They may have changed; see the source for the current score.
To read this table properly you need to know what each portal rates, because they do not measure the same thing:
- Google (4.3/5, 68 reviews) rates the whole complex, not a specific apartment. It is the figure with the most volume and the one that best reflects how the complex is perceived: pool, atmosphere and family holidays.
- Booking (8.7/10, 3 reviews) corresponds to a listing by Azahar Stay, an operator that rents units in the complex. With only three reviews, the score is indicative. Azahar Stay is a different company from Casa Azahar.
- Central de Reservas (7.1/10, 7 reviews) covers the Lloguers Altamar listing, with old reviews, from 2012 to 2018. In them cleanliness scores 4.7, well below the other categories, but it reflects a particular period and specific units, not necessarily the current situation.
The two TripAdvisor listings (Serenamar Altamar and Serena Mar) have no reviews, and we have not found listings on Expedia or Atrápalo.
What guests like most:
- The complex: quiet, well kept and with plenty of lawn.
- The pool, large for the number of homes.
- Being close to the beach (about 5 minutes on foot) and the promenade to the town.
- Spacious apartments with a terrace, comfortable for families.
- Parking and, in some units, air conditioning.
What some guests point out:
- Weak cleanliness and upkeep in some apartments, especially in the old Central de Reservas reviews.
- Scarce kitchenware and cutlery.
- Strict pool hours, with the pool closing at midday.
- No lift.
- Communication with the managing company could be better.
On Booking, cleanliness scores 9.2 and location 8.3; staff comes in at 6.7. The most common profile is Spanish families, many of them from Catalonia.
Our verdict
Strengths
- Quiet residential setting, with lawns and a large pool.
- Romana beach a short walk away, and El Moro close too.
- Parking in the complex, something valuable in summer.
- Spacious apartments with a terrace.
Weaknesses
- With several operators and owners, the experience varies a lot from one apartment to another: cleanliness, kitchenware and air conditioning are not uniform.
- No lift, worth bearing in mind with older people or pushchairs.
- Further from the centre and the marina than other areas.
Who is it ideal for? For families with children who put a pool, lawns and a quiet beach first, and who do not need the centre on their doorstep. For older people with reduced mobility, it is better to confirm the floor and access before booking.
Tips if you rent at Serena Mar
As each apartment has its own owner and sometimes its own operator, the most important thing is to look at the specific listing and not just the complex's score. Before booking, check:
- Who manages it. Lloguers Altamar, Azahar Stay or a private owner: each has its own terms for key handover, deposit and cleaning.
- Air conditioning. Only some units have it; in July and August it makes the difference.
- Floor and access. As there is no lift, ask which floor the home is on if you travel with older people or a pushchair.
- Kitchenware and linen. Several guests miss cutlery and utensils; ask what is included and bring the basics.
- Recent reviews. Those on Central de Reservas are from 2012 to 2018; give more weight to comments from recent years.

When to go to Serena Mar
Alcossebre has a mild Mediterranean climate: according to AEMET normals from the Castelló-Almassora station, the average is around 24.5 °C in summer, with highs of 29-30 °C, about 16 °C in spring and about 19 °C in autumn, with more than 2,700 hours of sunshine a year. The sea is around 25 °C in high summer.
In July and August the complex is full of families, the pool is livelier and the southern beaches get busy, though they are still less crowded than Cargador; this is when an air-conditioned apartment is most welcome, so confirm it. In June and September the water is still warm, there is more room on the sand and the lawns of the complex can be enjoyed without crowds. Outside summer, the south area is very quiet: good for resting, but with fewer services open nearby. At the end of August and the start of September the Fiestas Patronales of San Juan Bautista take place, and at Easter the town receives many visitors.
