On the portals the development appears under several names ("Apartamentos Voramar Casa Azahar", "Apartamentos Voramar Altamar", "Marineu Voramar" or "Vora Mar"), because besides Casa Azahar there are other agencies that market units in the same complex.

Where are the Voramar apartments in Alcocéber?

Voramar is in the Las Fuentes area, the northern part of Alcocéber around the marina and Les Fonts beach. Guests reckon about 50 metres to the beach, and it is the location (9.0 on Booking) that they rate best.

Les Fonts / Las Fuentes beach is about 400 × 40 m of fine sand and has a unique feature: freshwater springs bubble up in the sand itself, coming from an old underground aquifer. It has lifeguards, toilets, showers, foot washes, ramps, a children's area and equipment hire.

Very close is the Las Fuentes marina, with 283 moorings and home to the Alcossebre Sailing Club, from where diving trips to the Columbretes Islands depart. And to the north begins the coast of the Serra d'Irta Natural Park.

Advantages of the area: the beach a step away, a quiet atmosphere and a direct route to the hills. Drawbacks: some guests point out that there are few services and bars in the immediate surroundings; for more atmosphere or big shopping trips, the centre is a long walk or a few minutes by car.

What is the Voramar development like?

According to the listings and reviews, the development offers:

• Large pools in well-kept green areas.
• A tennis court.

• Apartments with a terrace, many of them renovated, with a washing machine and a dishwasher.
• A ceiling fan and air conditioning, which is charged extra.

There are duplexes, and here two warnings come up repeatedly: the interior stairs are steep, which worries mainly those travelling with children, and the upper floor gets hot. The third floors have no lift, important if you are travelling with older people or with a pushchair.

Voramar is one of the complexes in this area with the most reviews: 108 across five portals. This is how to read the table:

• Google (4.4/5, 53 reviews) is the source with the most volume and the one that corresponds to Casa Azahar's apartments: it is the "Apartamentos Voramar Casa Azahar" listing. There is a second listing for the development, "El Apartamentos Marineu Voramar", with 4.5/5 and 11 reviews, which has not been added to the average.
• Booking (7.4/10, 48 reviews) is for "Apartamentos Voramar Altamar", units marketed by another agency (Lloguers Altamar), not Casa Azahar. Even so it describes the building and communal areas well, and it is the one that gives most detail on the weak points.
• Atrápalo (7.8/10, 4 reviews), Central de Reservas (8.8/10, 1 review) and Tripadvisor (2.5/5, 2 reviews) provide very few ratings, from listings of other operators (Marineu and Altamar); treat them as anecdotal.

Who is it ideal for?

Voramar suits couples and families with older children who value the nearby beach, the pools and the tennis, and do not mind taking the car to the centre. For families with small children, it is best to avoid the duplexes or to confirm what the staircase is like. For older people, ask for a ground or first floor: the third floors have no lift.

Tips if you are renting in Voramar

1. Duplex or single-level. If you are travelling with small children or older people, ask for a single-floor apartment.
2. Floor. With no lift to the third floors, the floor matters if you have suitcases or a pushchair or have reduced mobility.
3. Air conditioning. It is charged separately; in July and August, especially on upper floors, it is worth paying for it.
4. Agency. If you book with Casa Azahar, you will have the service of a local agency in Alcossebre; when you book, ask about the floor, the type of apartment and the air conditioning. Other agencies advertising Voramar have their own conditions.
5. Shopping. With few services nearby, do a big shop on arrival.

• Les Fonts beach and its freshwater springs, a few steps away.
• Las Fuentes marina: sailing with the Alcossebre Sailing Club, diving towards the Columbretes Islands and, elsewhere in Alcossebre, kayaking and paddle surf.
• Serra d'Irta Natural Park: from Cala Blanca and the lighthouse start route 2 (Faro d'Irta - Cala Cubanita, 12.8 km, easy) and the Ruta del Cranc for mountain bikes (13.2 km) towards Peñíscola. In summer, access by car to the park's coast requires a booking on the GVA Parcs Naturals app.
• El Cargador beach, in the centre, with a Blue Flag uninterrupted since 1987.

Voramar is in line with the Las Fuentes complexes, slightly below because of the comfort and paid air conditioning, but it is the one with the most reviews, which makes its score especially solid. If what matters most to you is having large pools and tennis by the beach, Voramar has all three according to the listings and reviews.

When to go to Voramar

The climate is pleasant for much of the year: according to AEMET (Castelló-Almassora station, the closest with published data), the annual average is around 17.5 °C and there are more than 2,700 hours of sunshine a year. In summer the average highs are around 29-30 °C and the sea is around 25 °C in midsummer.

• July and August are the hottest and liveliest months: if you go then, book in advance, and if you are travelling with small children, ask early for a single-floor apartment.
• September keeps the sea at an average of around 25 °C, and is a good option for couples and for anyone not tied to the school calendar.
• Spring and autumn (averages of about 16 and 19 °C) are ideal for the Serra d'Irta, hiking and cycling.
• The San Juan Bautista fiestas, the main ones, are held between August and September, and in October the Fira de la Tomata de Penjar takes place.

• By car: AP-7, exit 44 (Alcossebre-Torreblanca), or the N-340 and CV-142 to Alcossebre. Then continue towards the marina and the Las Fuentes area.

• Airports: Castellón (about 22 km), Valencia (about 123 km), Reus (about 145 km) and Barcelona (about 230 km).
• By train: Alcalà de Xivert station, about 10 km away.
• By bus: services reach Alcossebre from AMSA (Autos Mediterráneo), Avanza (from Madrid) and HIFE (from Castellón, Valencia and Zaragoza).
