The Fontana Real apartments in Alcossebre (Fontana Real residence) are one of the best-rated options in the Las Fuentes area, although with a still modest number of reviews. The residence combines three things guests highlight again and again: the beach right at the door, quiet gardens and clean, air-conditioned apartments. Here is where it is, what it is like, what scores it has and our assessment.

Where the Fontana Real residence is
Fontana Real is in the Las Fuentes area, north of the centre of Alcossebre (Alcalà de Xivert, Castellón). According to guests, the residence has direct access to the beach, with sea views from some apartments.

That beach is Las Fuentes (Les Fonts), with fine sand and about 400 metres long, known for a curious phenomenon: freshwater springs rise from the sand itself, coming from an ancient underground aquifer. In season it has lifeguards, toilets, showers, foot showers, ramps, a children's area and equipment hire. Next to it is the Las Fuentes marina, with about 283 berths and the headquarters of the Alcossebre Sailing Club.
Advantages of the area: a quiet beach right by the residence, a family atmosphere and Las Fuentes services close at hand.
Drawbacks: some guests mention mosquitoes; it is worth bringing repellent or an anti-mosquito plug-in.
What the Fontana Real complex is like
Fontana Real is a residential development with owner-occupied homes and rental apartments. According to the Casa Azahar listing and the published reviews, it has:
- A shared pool.
- Well-kept gardens, which give the complex the feel of a quiet estate.
- A lift, an important detail if you are travelling with older people or a pushchair.
- Wifi in the apartments.

The apartments marketed by Casa Azahar have air conditioning, a fully equipped kitchen and a terrace. There are two-bedroom, two-bathroom units, comfortable for families. Some have sea views from the terrace or even from the bedroom. One point to bear in mind: several guests comment that the kitchen is very small in some units.

What guests say about Fontana Real
These are the public scores we found:
8.5/10 weighted average across booking sites · 28 reviews
| Website | Score | Reviews |
|---|---|---|
| Booking.com | 8.2/10 | 16 |
| 4.5/5 | 12 |
Public scores from each website, checked on octubre de 2026. They may have changed; see the source for the current score.
To read them properly, you need to know that the two scores do not measure the same thing:
- Booking (8.2 from 16 reviews) corresponds to the Casa Azahar listing and reflects the experience of people who rent.
- Google (4.5 out of 5 from 12 reviews) is the listing for the Fontana Real development, with reviews from residents and holidaymakers. One of the negative reviews is about the management of the owners' community, not the holiday rental.
There are no listings for the complex on TripAdvisor, Atrápalo or Central de Reservas. With 28 reviews in total, the picture is very positive, although still based on a small sample.
What guests like most

- A quiet estate with well-kept gardens.
- Clean apartments, some with two bedrooms and two bathrooms.

What could be improved
The lowest sub-score is comfort (7.9). The criticisms, few and specific, are:
- Mosquitoes.

- A very small kitchen in some units.
- In one case, arriving to find the apartment without towels and with sand on the floor.
- Check-out before 10, which some guests find early.
Those who review are mostly families and solo travellers.

Tips for your stay at Fontana Real
- Bring repellent or an anti-mosquito diffuser, especially for summer nights.
- Confirm what the booking includes (towels, bed linen) before you arrive.
- Plan your last day bearing in mind that check-out is before 10.
- Ask for a unit with sea views if that matters to you, because not all of them have them.
- If you plan to cook often, ask about the size of the unit's kitchen.
When to go to Fontana Real
With air conditioning, Fontana Real works well even in the height of summer, when average maximum temperatures are around 29-30 °C and the sea is about 25 °C, according to the reference climate data. This is the season for the beach, the pool and life on the Las Fuentes promenade.
June and September are perhaps the best balance: good weather, warm water and fewer people on the beach. In spring and autumn, with average temperatures of 16 to 19 °C, the residence is a quiet base for walking in the Serra d'Irta or visiting nearby towns such as Peñíscola, about 32 km by road, or Morella, about 95 km. If you are considering a long stay, see our guide on weekly and fortnightly rentals in Alcocéber.
Things to do with children from Fontana Real
For families, the Las Fuentes area has several advantages:
- Las Fuentes beach has a children's area and lifeguards in season, and is right by the residence.
- The Cargador and Romana beaches also have children's areas or activities, according to Alcossebre's official tourism office.
- The Alcossebre Sailing Club, at the marina, is an accredited sailing school.
- In the Serra d'Irta, the red route from the lighthouse (8.5 km loop) and route 2 from Cala Blanca are easy; for swimming with children, the town beaches are better, because the park's coves have no lifeguards or services.
- For a different day out, the Aquarama water park in Benicàssim is about 35 km away.
