Residencial Neptuno, Alcossebre

The Neptuno apartments in Alcossebre are a residential complex located at the entrance to the town, a few minutes' walk from Cargador beach. Their most striking feature is the rooftop pool, with views, and the large terraces. On the portals the complex appears under several names (Neptuno Altamar, Neptuno 3000, Neptuno La Ermita) because it is marketed by two different operators. It is not managed by Casa Azahar; this page is informative and independent.

Where Residencial Neptuno is

Residencial Neptuno is in the Cargador-centre area of Alcossebre (Alcalà de Xivert, Castellón), at the approach to the town, a few minutes' walk from Cargador beach. Google places the Apartamentos Neptuno 3000 listing at Calle Irta, 8.

A note on the location: on maps there are two points named Neptuno very close to each other, Neptuno and Residencial Neptuno La Ermita, and it is not clear whether they are the same building or two separate blocks. If you are planning to stay, confirm the exact address with the operator.

Cargador beach is the main beach of Alcossebre: 850 m of fine sand, fully accessible, with a seafront promenade, a sailing club, a dune system with sea lilies and a Blue Flag every year since 1987.

Advantages of the area:

• Cargador beach and the centre close by, on foot.
• Easy parking, according to guests.
• Quick access to the road and the surrounding villages.

Drawbacks:

• It is not beachfront: there is a short walk to the sand.

What Residencial Neptuno is like

Neptuno is an apartment residence with the following facilities, according to the portals and the reviews:

• Rooftop pool, with views.
• Large terraces.
• Free and easy parking.
• Ceiling fan and air conditioning at an extra charge, according to guests.

The apartments are described as spacious. Because there are two operators, the equipment, whether bed linen is included and the conditions may differ from one offer to another.

Residencial Neptuno reviews

Reading the Neptuno ratings needs some explanation, because they mix two different managements:

• The Booking rating shown in the table (8.2/10, 16 reviews) is that of the Lloguers Altamar listing.
• Google (3.7/5, 59 reviews), TripAdvisor (2.4/5, five reviews) and Central de Reservas (7.9/10, 15 reviews) correspond to Apartamentos Neptuno 3000.
• On Booking there is also another listing, Apartamentos Neptuno 3000, with 6.7/10 and 254 reviews (location 7.8, cleanliness 7.5, value for money 7.0, facilities 6.9, comfort 7.3 and staff 7.4). We have not added it to the table so as not to mix listings, but by volume it is the broadest reference for that operator.

Taking everything together, the weighted average in the table is 7.5 out of 10 across 95 reviews. The gap between the Altamar listing (8.2) and the Neptuno 3000 ones (between 4.8 and 7.9 depending on the portal) shows that the experience depends heavily on the operator.

What guests like most. On the Altamar Booking listing, the best sub-score is for staff (9.0), followed by location (8.6) and cleanliness (8.5). Reviews repeatedly mention that:

• Cargador beach is a few minutes' walk away and the residence is at the entrance to the town;
• the terraces are large;
• parking is easy;
• the apartments are spacious;
• the views from the rooftop pool are worth it;
• the key handover is handled properly.

What guests criticise. The criticism, more frequent on the Neptuno 3000 listings, centres on:

• the air conditioning, which is charged separately;
• sagging mattresses and loose bed bases;
• outdated electrical installation and furniture;
• poor prior cleaning and a lack of towels, paper or sheets for the sofa bed;
• key collection at a hotel far from the residence;
• the feeling that almost everything is charged extra.

In short: the building and its location are liked, with the rooftop pool as the standout feature; complaints mostly concern the condition of the apartments and the terms of one of the operators.

1. Check which operator is offering the apartment and read the reviews for that specific listing.
2. Ask whether air conditioning is included or charged separately.
3. Confirm what the rental includes: towels, sofa bed linen and basic cleaning supplies.
4. Find out where the keys are collected, as some reviews say it may be at a hotel far away.
5. Confirm the exact address, given the possible existence of two blocks with the same name.

What to do near Neptuno

The Cargador promenade is the most immediate plan: an accessible beach, a sailing club, paddle surf hire and, on Tuesday afternoons from May to October, the market on Camí l'Atall. Along the Senda Litoral, a wooden boardwalk, you reach Romana beach; further south are El Moro, Tres Platges and Manyetes.

To the north, the promenade leads to the Las Fuentes marina, the departure point for boat trips, and then to the Serra d'Irta Natural Park, with about 12 km of unspoilt coastline all the way to Peñíscola. Walking route 2 from Cala Blanca (12.8 km) and the Ruta del Cranc by bike (13.2 km) are of low difficulty. In summer, driving to the park's coast requires booking a space in the GVA Parcs Naturals app.

Nearby excursions: Alcalà de Xivert, about 9 km away, with the church of San Juan Bautista and its 68 m bell tower; Peñíscola, about 32 km; and Morella, about 95 km, for an inland day out.

Neptuno compared with other complexes in the area

Neptuno shares the rooftop pool with Sea Experience, although its rating and level of equipment are very different. Compared with Playamar, it wins on terraces and parking and loses the beachfront location.

When to go to Neptuno

The best time to enjoy the rooftop pool is from June to September: in summer the average temperature is around 24.5 °C and the sea is around 25 °C. If the heat worries you, remember that air conditioning is charged separately according to guests. In spring and autumn, with averages of 16 to 19 °C and more than 2,700 hours of sunshine a year (AEMET, Castelló-Almassora station), Alcossebre is a great destination for walking in the Serra d'Irta and eating out without crowds.

From the AP-7 (exit 44, Alcossebre-Torreblanca) or the N-340, the CV-142 leads to Alcossebre; the residence is at the entrance to the town, near Cargador.
