Romana beach in Alcossebre, in front of Urbanización Playa Romana

Urbanización Playa Romana, Alcossebre

Urbanización Playa Romana (also advertised as Residencial Playa Romana or Playa Romana apartments) is a group of apartment blocks on the seafront between Romana beach and El Moro beach, in southern Alcossebre (Alcocéber, Castellón), Spain. It has an adult and a children's pool, a tennis court, gardens and a concierge, and its two Booking listings add up to an average of 7.8 out of 10 with 100 reviews. The apartments of Urbanización Playa Romana in Alcossebre are on one of the few stretches of town where the development and the sand meet: the blocks stand on the front line, between Romana beach and El Moro beach. It is a residential complex of owners, not a hotel: each apartment has its own owner and several are rented seasonally through local agencies such as Lloguers Altamar, Albert Villas, Marineu or Alco Gestión.

This page is informative and independent. Casa Azahar does not manage apartments in this development or offer bookings in it; at the end you will find Casa Azahar alternatives in the same area.

Do not confuse it with the Kione Playa Romana Park complex, which is on Carrer del Canaret, further inland. Urbanización Playa Romana is the one that faces the sea directly.

The two beaches in front of it are:

Advantages of the area: front line with sea views from many terraces, a quiet atmosphere and a seaside walk to the town. Drawbacks: the marina, Las Fuentes beach and many of the restaurants are in the centre and the north, so for dinner out or a big shop many people use the car.

What the Playa Romana development is like

It is a development of several apartment blocks with generous common areas. According to the portal listings and reviews, it has:

The blocks are old and have no lift, something to keep in mind if you travel with a pushchair, small children or older people. The interior equipment depends on each owner: some units are refurbished and others are not, and wifi or climate control are not in every apartment.

Our assessment

Strong points

Weak points

Who it is ideal for.Families and couples who prioritise going down to the beach without taking the car and seeing the sea from the terrace, and who are willing to check the specific listing carefully. For people with reduced mobility, or if you travel with a pushchair, ask about the floor before booking or look for a building with a lift.

Tips before renting in Playa Romana

  1. Check who manages the apartment. Altamar, Albert Villas, Marineu or a private owner: the conditions for keys, cleaning and linen vary.
  2. Ask about the floor. Without a lift, a third floor with suitcases and children is noticeable.
  3. Confirm wifi and air conditioning. They are not in every unit.
  4. Check what is included. Towels, tea towels and kitchenware are what is missed most.
  5. Look at the view. Not all terraces face the sea directly; if that is what you want, ask for confirmation.
