The Al Andalus apartments in Alcossebre make up one of the best-known residences in the town: a group of low-rise blocks spread around a large garden, with pools and inner paths, a few minutes' walk from Cargador beach and the centre. It is a large complex, with many owners and several rental operators, and that explains a good part of what you will see in the reviews.
Some of the apartments are managed by Casa Azahar, the local agency in Alcossebre, which has its own page for the residence with photos and availability.

Where is Residencial Al Andalus
Residencial Al Andalus is on Avenida Blasco Ibáñez in Alcossebre, in the area linking the town centre with Cargador beach. According to the Casa Azahar listing, the beach is about 7 minutes away on foot. It is not on the front line, but you do not need to take the car to go down to the sand, go out for dinner or do the shopping: reviews highlight precisely that the centre, shops and beach can be reached on foot.
The reference beach is the Carregador or Cargador, the main one in Alcossebre: 850 metres of fine sand and about 70 wide, with a seafront promenade, a protected dune system and full accessibility. It has had a Blue Flag without interruption since 1987 and is one of the four beaches in the municipality with a flag in 2026, along with El Moro, Romana and Manyetes. On the beach itself there is a sailing club and paddle surf hire.
Advantages of the area:
- Everything close at hand without a car: beach, promenade, restaurants and shops.
- The atmosphere of a summer resort town, with many Spanish families.
- From the Cargador the wooden walkway of the Senda Litoral leads to Romana beach.
Drawbacks:
- As it is not on the front line, there are no sea views from the apartments (the Casa Azahar listing states this).
- In high August the centre is very busy; the inside of the residence, on the other hand, is quiet.
What the Al Andalus complex is like
The Al Andalus complex is organised into several low-rise blocks surrounded by lawns, trees and paths. Casa Azahar describes it as a "quiet oasis" and that is, in fact, what recurs most in the reviews: large, well-kept gardens and a family atmosphere.

What is known about the residence:
- Pools: one for adults and one for children. Guests describe them as large and uncrowded, and some mention several swimming areas within the complex.
- Garden: this is the defining feature of Al Andalus, with green areas between blocks.
- Parking: paid, according to the Casa Azahar listing.
- Restaurant inside the complex, which some reviews mention.
- Night-time security, mentioned by several guests.
- The apartments are mentioned as having a terrace, washing machine, oven, wifi and a fan.
The Casa Azahar apartments in Al Andalus have 1 bedroom (for 2 to 4 people) or 2 bedrooms (for 4 to 6 people). There are ground floors with a terrace onto the garden, upper floors and the odd duplex. As each apartment belongs to a different owner, the equipment changes from one to another: look carefully at the specific listing before booking, especially if air conditioning matters to you.

Public scores from each website, checked on octubre de 2026. They may have changed; see the source for the current score.
Al Andalus has more than a thousand reviews across Google, Booking, TripAdvisor, Atrápalo and Central de Reservas, with a weighted average of 7.5 out of 10. But the ratings differ widely between portals, and it is worth understanding why before drawing conclusions.
One complex, many operators. In Al Andalus, apartments are rented by Casa Azahar, other agencies (APCOSTAS, Albert Villas) and private individuals. The Booking, Atrápalo and Central de Reservas listings in the table correspond to the residence; Google rates the complex as a whole; and TripAdvisor has a generic listing, "Complejo Al Andalus", which mixes experiences from all kinds of apartments and operators. Booking also has other listings for individual units that we have not included.
Old reviews. The lowest rating, TripAdvisor's (3.2/5), carries criticism from years ago about the restaurant and the state of repair. Google, with more than 500 reviews, gives 4.0/5, and Central de Reservas 7.9/10. Google also has a second listing, "Complejo Al Andalus", with a lower rating and fewer reviews, which is not included in the table.
What is most appreciated:
- The shared areas: large gardens, lawns and well-kept surroundings. On Central de Reservas, facilities score 8.1.
- The pools, large and without crowds.
- The quiet, family atmosphere, with night-time security.
- The location: centre, shops and beach on foot (7.9 on Booking and 8.0 on Central de Reservas).
- The attitude of the maintenance staff and managers, and the speed in fixing faults. On Booking, staff is the highest sub-score, at 8.3.
- Many guests come back year after year.
What is most criticised:
- The lack of air conditioning in the bedrooms or the whole apartment, which is noticeable in summer.
- Furniture, sofas, mattresses and pillows that are old or uncomfortable in some apartments.
- Uneven cleanliness and kitchenware: worn textiles, minimal supplies of paper or soap, lack of cloths.
- Small bathrooms and basic equipment, with no dishwasher.
- Negative experiences with the restaurant (prices, service or food), mostly in old reviews.
- A disputed value for money, linked to the notable differences between one apartment and another.
In short, the complex is convincing; what divides opinion is the interior of each apartment. The Booking sub-scores reflect this: location and staff above 7.9, and facilities and comfort around 7.
Our assessment of the Al Andalus apartments
Strengths. Al Andalus offers something uncommon so close to the centre of Alcossebre: plenty of green space, spacious pools and the atmosphere of a quiet estate. For spending a week or two with children, being able to step out of the apartment onto the lawn or the children's pool is a real advantage. Being close to Cargador beach and the shops means you can leave the car parked.
Weaknesses. The condition and equipment of the apartments are not uniform. The criticisms about summer heat, mattresses and kitchenware recur often enough to take into account. There are no sea views and the parking is paid.
Who it is ideal for:
- Families with children, the most common profile according to reviews. The pools and the garden are the big attraction.
- Groups renting two apartments nearby.
- Couples or older guests who value calm and do not need the front line.
Who it is less suited to: anyone looking for sea views or a recently renovated apartment with all the comforts. In that case, check the photos and equipment of the specific apartment carefully.

When to go to Al Andalus
The residence is busiest in July and August, when Alcossebre's average temperature is around 24.5 °C and the sea reaches about 25 °C. If heat in the apartment worries you, June and September are a good alternative: the garden and pools remain the centre of life in the complex and the town is quieter. Around the area and things to do near Al Andalus
From the residence, the easiest plan is Cargador beach and its promenade. Following the wooden walkway of the Senda Litoral you reach Romana beach, 500 metres long and also with a Blue Flag. To the north, past the marina, is Las Fuentes beach, where freshwater springs rise in the sand itself.
Beyond the lighthouse begins the Serra d'Irta Natural Park, with about 12 km of undeveloped coastline. From Cala Blanca, next to the Alcossebre lighthouse, start the walking route to Cala Cubanita (12.8 km, easy) and the Ruta del Cranc, the coastal bike track towards Peñíscola (13.2 km, easy). In summer, to drive onto the park's coast you need to reserve a space in the GVA Parcs Naturals app.
In town there is a weekly market in season, near the seafront promenade, and about 9 km away is Alcalà de Xivert, with the church of San Juan Bautista and its 68-metre bell tower.
