The Bitácora apartments in Alcossebre occupy a residential building facing Cargador beach, in the heart of the town. It is not a hotel or a complex with a reception: the flats belong to different owners, and some are rented by the day through Lloguers Altamar under the trading name Apartamentos Bitacora Altamar. Other apartments in the building occasionally appear in sale listings from local estate agents.
This page is informational and independent. Casa Azahar does not manage apartments in Edificio Bitácora and does not take bookings for it; at the end we point out Casa Azahar alternatives in the same area.
Where is Edificio Bitácora in Alcocéber
Edificio Bitácora is in the centre of Alcossebre, with its entrance on Calle Alcalá, 3 and a facade onto Calle Ausiàs March, facing Cargador beach. Both guests and sale listings highlight that it is practically on the front line and that the sea can be seen from many terraces.

Cargador beach is Alcossebre's main beach:
- About 850 metres of fine sand and 70 wide, with a protected dune system where sea daffodils grow.
- Blue Flag without interruption since 1987, including 2026.
- Fully accessible, with a sailing club, paddle surf hire and a seafront promenade.
Advantages of the location: you have the beach in front of you, and the seafront promenade, bars, restaurants and shops of the centre a few steps away. It is a convenient area for getting around on foot throughout your stay. Drawbacks: being the centre, in July and August there is more bustle and noise than in residential areas, and parking nearby is harder than in the estates on the outskirts.
What the building is like
Bitácora is a multi-storey apartment building with a restaurant on the ground floor. According to the listings and reviews, the apartments rented out are modest in size, with an equipped kitchen and a balcony or terrace that in many cases has beach views.
Services mentioned by the portals and guests:
- A terrace or balcony, often with sea views.
- An equipped kitchen.
- Air conditioning, which in the rental listing is charged as a daily supplement.
No pool or parking of its own is mentioned in the listings we checked. As each flat belongs to a different owner, the condition and equipment may vary from one apartment to another.
What guests think of the Bitácora apartments

Public scores from each website, checked on octubre de 2026. They may have changed; see the source for the current score.
The rating comes from the Booking listing of Apartamentos Bitacora Altamar, which groups the flats rented by that operator within the building. It is a small sample, of 13 reviews, and very polarised: there are stays rated 10 and others rated 1, so the average says less than the spread of comments. Expedia also lists the accommodation as Bitácora, but with no visible rating, and we have not found listings on Tripadvisor, Atrápalo or Central de Reservas. The building's Google listing has no reviews.
The Booking sub-scores help explain that 7.7:
| Category | Score |
|---|---|
| Location | 9.7 |
| Staff | 8.7 |
| Cleanliness | 8.0 |
| Facilities | 7.7 |
| Comfort | 7.5 |
| Value for money | 7.4 |
What guests like most:
- The location, practically on the front line of Cargador beach and right in the town. It is, by a wide margin, the best-rated point.
- The balcony or large terrace with views.
- Small but cosy apartments for short stays.
- The staff's attitude, with a high sub-score.
What some guests point out:
- In some flats the terrace overlooks the roof of the restaurant on the ground floor, which they describe as run-down, and cooking smells drift up.
- Bed linen and pillow cleanliness could be better in several stays.
- Locks and terrace doors that do not close properly.
- Air conditioning is paid separately, by the day.
- Basic products such as toilet paper or soap are missing, and some towels are worn.
- Presence of insects in the entrance hall.
The most common profile in the reviews is people travelling alone, followed by couples and families, almost always Spanish.
Our assessment
Strengths
- A location that is hard to beat: Cargador beach in front and the centre of Alcossebre on foot.
- Terraces with sea views in many of the apartments.
- Good rating for the staff's attitude.
Weaknesses
- Very mixed reviews: the experience depends a lot on the specific apartment.
- Repeated comments about cleanliness, the upkeep of doors and locks, and basic kitchenware.
- In some apartments, smells and views of the roof of the restaurant below.
- No pool or parking mentioned in the listings.
Who is it ideal for? For solo travellers and couples who want a simple front-line base, to spend the day between the beach and the centre and get around on foot. If you travel with children and want a pool, or if silence and equipment matter a lot to you, a residence a little further from the centre will suit you better.
Tips if you plan to rent in Edificio Bitácora
- Ask about the terrace's orientation. A flat with beach views is not the same as one that overlooks the restaurant roof.
- Confirm what the price includes. Air conditioning, towels and basic products may be charged separately.
- Check the most recent reviews. With such a small sample, a few recent stays say more than the average.
- Think about the car. In the centre parking is harder in high season; if you can, arrive unhurried or ask about nearby options.
Around the area and things to do
- Cargador seafront promenade: links the centre with Las Fuentes beach and the marina to the north.
- Senda Litoral: a wooden walkway from the Cargador to Romana beach, to the south.
