The Cala González apartments in Alcossebre are a building right on Cargador beach, the town's main beach. It is not a complex with a reception desk or its own brand: the apartments are rented out by various agencies and private owners, which is why they appear on booking portals under names such as Cala González Primera Línea, Marineu Cala González or Cala González Orange Costa. This page is an independent reference with the location, features and published reviews; it is not the building's official website and we do not handle bookings there.
Where the Cala González apartments are
The Cala González building stands right on Cargador beach, in the central area of Alcossebre (Alcalà de Xivert, Castellón). On OpenStreetMap it is listed as "Apartamentos Cala González", in the apartment building category.
Cargador beach (Carregador) is the benchmark beach of Alcocéber:
- About 850 m of fine sand, 70 m wide.
- Fully accessible, with a Blue Flag every year since 1987.
- A dune system with a sea daffodil colony, of high ecological value.
- A sailing club, paddle surf rental and a seafront promenade.
From Cargador, the Senda Litoral coastal path continues south along a wooden walkway to Romana beach. To the north, the promenade leads to the town centre and, beyond it, to Las Fuentes beach and the marina.
In the area's favour: the beach in front, the promenade and town centre on foot, and two Blue Flag beaches a few minutes away. Against: in July and August the Cargador seafront is very lively; if you want absolute quiet, the Las Fuentes or Serra d'Irta developments are calmer.
What the Cala González apartments are like
Cala González is a beachfront apartment building that forms part of a development with a pool right by the beach. According to the listings and portal reviews:
- There is a pool in the development, next to the sand.
- The listings mention free parking.
- The building is located facing the beach.
Since each apartment is marketed by an agency or a private owner, the equipment varies from one unit to another. The few reviews available mention, for example, the lack of a dishwasher or paintwork and bathrooms in need of updating in a particular apartment. Always ask about the equipment of the specific unit you plan to rent.
What guests say about the Cala González apartments
9.4/10 weighted average across booking sites · 11 reviews
| Website | Score | Reviews |
|---|---|---|
| Booking.com | 9.5/10 | 2 |
| 4.7/5 | 9 |
Public scores from each website, checked on octubre de 2026. They may have changed; see the source for the current score.
The average score for Cala González is high, but it should be read with caution because there are very few reviews and they do not come from a listing for the whole building:
- Booking.com (9.5 out of 10, 2 reviews) corresponds to a single apartment marketed by Albert Villas, not to the building as a whole.
- On Google there are two listings: Apartamentos Marineu Cala González (4.7 out of 5, 9 reviews), which is the one included in the table, and Apartamentos Cala González Orange Costa (5.0 out of 5, 9 reviews), which has not been added so as not to count the same building twice through listings from different operators.
- Central de Reservas has a listing for the building, but no ratings.
With 11 reviews in total, the score gives an idea of the experience, but it is not comparable to that of complexes with hundreds of reviews.
What is most appreciated. In the Booking listing, location, value for money, facilities and comfort score 10, and cleanliness and staff score 8.7. Guests agree on:
- The front row of Cargador beach.
- The development with a pool right by the beach.
- A location they consider exceptional.
What is criticised. The complaints are few and specific, typical of privately owned apartments:
- Some apartments without a dishwasher.
- Paintwork and bathrooms in need of updating in some units.
The reviewers are mostly families and Spanish travellers.

Keep in mind that these sub-scores come from only two reviews of one specific apartment: they tell you a lot about the location, which is shared by the whole building, and little about the other units.

Strengths
- A genuine front-row position on Cargador beach, with a Blue Flag since 1987.
- Pool in the development, right by the beach.
- Free parking according to the listings.
- Town centre, promenade and services within walking distance.
Weaknesses
- Very few reviews, spread across listings from different operators.
- Uneven equipment between apartments, as it depends on each owner or agency.
- Some units with bathrooms and paintwork in need of updating.

Before renting an apartment in Cala González
- Identify the advertiser. Agency or private owner, each has its own conditions for deposit, cleaning and check-in times.
- Check the unit's equipment: dishwasher, air conditioning, bed linen and towels.
- Confirm access to the pool and parking in the development and the season they are available.
- Look at recent photos of the specific apartment, especially of the bathrooms and kitchen.
- Ask about the floor and the views: on the front row, the difference between a ground floor and a high floor is big.
Cargador with children and older people
If you are travelling as a family, the beach in front of Cala González has several advantages documented by Alcossebre's official tourism office:
- It is a fully accessible beach, convenient for pushchairs, wheelchairs and older people.
- It offers a children's area or activities, like the beaches of Las Fuentes and Romana.
- It has fine sand and is wide, at about 70 m.
- Its protected dune system, with the sea daffodil, is a good excuse to explain to children why dunes are not walked on.
For the smallest children, it is best to avoid the coves of the Serra d'Irta as a regular swimming beach: they have no lifeguards or services. Urban beaches such as Cargador are the recommended option for families.
